UEAPME and the other European Social Partners met with Heads of State, led by UK Prime Minister Tony Blair, and Social Ministers from the troika of presidencies, as well as Commission President Barroso in London on 24 October at the Tripartite Social Summit. UEAPME was represented at the Summit by President Paul Reckinger and Secretary General Hans-Werner Müller.

A UEAPME paper on the interdependence of economic and social reforms in the context of globalisation was presented to outline the position of SMEs in the context of the EU Summit on globalisation, which took place on 27 October.
