The first SME Policy Dialogue entitled “European SME Policy: Challenges ahead” took place in Brussels at the European Parliament on 8 November 2007. The event was organised in collaboration with the SME Intergroup and with the support of the EPP-ED group in the European Parliament. The meeting was opened by Commissioner Kroes, who delivered a keynote speech on the European State Aid reform and its effects on SMEs.
Two panel discussions followed. The first concentrated on the new energy and climate change policies, while the second focused on better regulation by tackling issues such as company law, accounting standards and the marketing of products regulation. Both sessions featured speakers from the European Parliament as well as from the UEAPME family.
A four-page report on the proceedings is now available.
