Legal Affairs Committee

The Legal Affairs Committee consists of SME legal experts from UEAPME’s member organizations. It follows closely and gives its opinion on several European Commission and European Parliament initiatives concerning legal topics of interest to SMEs. Areas of particular interest in the recent years have been Business Environment Simplification, design protection, sale of consumer goods and associated guarantees, late payments, and counterfeiting and piracy in the single market. Issues currently dealt with by the committee are the legal aspects of electronic commerce in the internal market, liability for defective products, general product safety, environmental liability and European Convention.
The Legal Affairs Committee currently has 1 Working group.

Ad Hoc working group on the Future of Europe and the Convention

This work group follows the developments of the future EU treaty, with special attention given to aspects affecting SMEs such as support of entrepreneurship, simplification of legislation, QMV etc.. Mr. Peter Vesterdorf chairs the working group.
