UEAPME has a keen interest for external relations, with a particolar focus on the Mediterranean area, Latin American countries and the USA. Regarding Mediterranean countries, UEAPME collaborates with its homologue organisations via partnership protocols and participates in the Working Group on Euro-Mediterranean Industrial Co-operation that is co-ordinated by DG Enterprise of the European Commission and is composed by representative of the Ministries of Industries of EU Countries and Mediterranean Countries.
UEAPME also participates in the Transatlantic Business Dialogue, TABD, which is an informal process whereby European and American companies and business associations develop joint EU-US trade policy recommendations, working together with the European Commission and US Administration.
As the voice of European SMEs, UEAPME fully supported the accession of the Central and Eastern European Countries to the European Union, seeing this as an important contribution to the goal of political and economic stability in Europe.
Moreover, UEAPME is of the opinion that the internationalisation of enterprises is essential to improve the results of enterprises and a condition for survival in a globalised market.
